Dr. V Kalaiselvan

Dr. Kalaiselvan, completed his B. Pharm and M. Pharm in Tamil Nadu Dr. M G R Medical University, Chennai and Ph. D in DIPSAR, University of Delhi.

He is responsible for coordinating the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI), at National Coordination Centre (NCC) and working with different partners in Pharmacovigilance at national and international levels. He has overall responsibility for the technical and operational activities of the PvPI.

He has been instrumental in establishing ADRs monitoring centres, helpline for reporting ADRs, PvPI toolkit etc. He has also been actively involved in ISCRs processing and quality review, signal detection and education, training and skill development programs under PvPI.

He is serving as member/member secretary in various committees of PvPI, CDSCO, Revised National TB Control Progam, and Universal Immunization Program to provide inputs/recommendations to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India on the policy level matters related to drug and vaccines safety, regulation etc.

He has published 55 research and review articles in national and international journals; contributed chapters in 3 books and also a patent on ‘synergistic herbal ophthalmic composition for the prevention of cataract’ for his credit.

His scientific contribution also reflected in bringing out Indian Pharmacopoeia 2010 & 2014 and National Formulary of India 2011. He also received fellowship from AICTE and DST to pursue the research.

In his 15 years of progressive experience in the field of healthcare, is being involved in policy formulation, program management, programme development and implementation of PvPI for better patients care.
